A Cape Coral man was arrested after officers, along with Homeland Security, conducted an undercover operation posing as a 12-year-old boy through May.
Cape Coral police say they posed as a 12-year-old boy on the Kik Messenger app. Officers say a male contacted the agent who was posing as the minor.
The man who contacted the agent had a profile picture that showed half his head and face, according to reports.
The man was identified as ape Coral resident Stephen Murphy, 56.
Murphy reportedly reached out and commented on the "boy's" profile picture stating, "Look a bit young thought I'd say hi."
The agent told Murphy that he was 12 years old. Murphy reportedly asked later for a naked picture.
The conversation was said to have gone on for several weeks, and Murphy sent naked photos of himself to the agent.
Murphy reportedly also engaged in a pattern of communication that included explicit and detailed verbal descriptions of sexual activity.
Detectives say they conducted a search warrant that was served on Murphy's home. During the search, detectives say they also located trafficking amounts of suspected narcotics.
Murphy was reportedly arrested and charged with one count of using a computer to seduce/solicit/lure a child by misrepresenting age, one count of transmitting information harmful to minors, and two counts of drug trafficking.
