If you’re looking to reel in some affordable summer essentials, the freedom sales tax holiday kicks off July 1.
“More money in our pocket by not having to pay sales tax and really getting out there to enjoy it really incentivizes us,” said Dawn Harris, who was shopping for fishing gear for her kids.
The Florida Freedom Month sales tax holiday is encouraging you to get out this July, saving on items like fishing supplies and equipment for outdoor activities. Also, admission to state parks and museums are all tax-free.
While the sales tax holiday is great for shoppers, Jim Bryan at Whitney’s Bait and Tackle said he thinks it will also help local businesses.
"That'd be great for our business and help everybody's business that this falls under, which is a great idea. So, I'm glad to see it. Especially for me. I buy a lot of tackles, so that's a break for me,"Bryan said.
Canoes and kayaks, pool toys, coolers, reels and rods, tents and even things like sunscreen are all included.
Live sports games, concerts, movies and more are also tax-free for the rest of 2024.
