The Collier County Sheriff’s Office reports that a driver was arrested for DUI after crashing just one street away from his home in Immokalee.
Lucas Lopez-Juarez, 22, was taken into custody and is now being held at the Naples Jail Center.
According to witnesses, the crash occurred over the weekend on S. 2nd Street near W. Main Street.
Lopez-Juarez lives on the neighboring 3rd Street.
A resident of S. 2nd Street shared video footage of the aftermath of the incident, which showed a car flipped over in a ditch and a blue minivan with major front-end damage.
Maria Perez lives in front of the crash site, she described the scene and expressed concerns about reckless driving in the area.
“It’s usually calm here, but sometimes the young people drink and drive,” Perez said.
Lopez-Juarez is facing multiple charges, including DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, driving without a valid license and reckless driving. He was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday but failed to show up.
