A man and a woman were arrested after a road rage incident turned into a shooting in Lehigh Acres on Monday.
Lee County deputies responded to the area of Harlow Avenue S and 22nd Street SW around 5 p.m. for reports of a shooting.
Deputies spoke with the victim, who said he had been in a road rage incident on Daniels Parkway and had been shot. The victim was transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center.
Authorities were able to identify the suspects as Emanuel Merricks, 33, and Kyrah Harris, 29, after a witness on the scene recorded a video of the altercation.
Deputies responded to the area before locating the vehicle matching the victim's description, a white Hyundai Santa Fe, and made a traffic stop.
Harris was reportedly identified as the driver, and Merricks was the passenger. Deputies say both were detained.
Investigations revealed the victim was driving northbound on Daniels Pkwy when the lane ended into a merge.
After merging, the victim says he observed Harris and Merrick following him, and they appeared upset.
The victim came to a stop at Gunnery Road and 23rd Street before Merrick reportedly exited the car and began to walk toward the victim's driver-side door.
Merrick reportedly stated he was going to kill the victim.
The victim exited his vehicle and confronted Merricks before the two began to fight.
The victim then got back in his vehicle and sped away, northbound on Gunnery. While the victim was driving away, deputies say Merricks got a gun and shot at the victim's vehicle.
Detectives say the victim believes the bullet entered the left rear driver's side window and struck him in the left rib area.
The victim continued to drive away before pulling into a random driveway and asking for help to call 911 from a bystander.
Detectives authored a search warrant, which was later signed. Deputies conducted the search and located Merricks and Harris, as well as a box of .45 caliber ammunition.
Deputies say they arrested Merricks and Harris and took them to the Lee County Jail.
Documents say Harris was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, shooting into an occupied conveyance and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
