A man has been arrested in connection to a homicide that happened in Sarasota.
The incident happened near the intersection of Dixie Avenue and 24th Street just after 1 a.m. Thursday.
According to the Sarasota Police Department, a man was shot and pronounced dead at the scene.
Sarasota police said Kevin Holloway, 54, has been arrested. He is facing charges of the following:
- Murder
- Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
- Two counts of aggravated assault
According to the news release, Holloway was brought into custody with the help of the Miami Police Department.
Sarasota Chief of Police Rex Troche released the following statement on Holloway's arrest:
“This case highlights our commitment to community safety and the importance of inter-agency cooperation. Thank you to all the officers and detectives involved for your hard work and dedication... We continue to uphold the law and protect our community.”
