Hurricane Beryl made landfall just to the NE of Tulum Friday morning at 7:05am as a category 2 hurricane with sustained winds of 110mph.
As of 11 a.m, Friday, Beryl is quickly weakening over the Yucatan Peninsula and is now down to a Category 1 hurricane with sustained winds of 85.
The Yucatan Peninsula will continue to feel the dangerous winds, storm surge and high surf through the day.
This is a fast-moving hurricane, so that's at least a bit of good news for areas affected by Beryl.
Beryl will continue to weaken as it moves across the peninsula today, before reemerging over water in the western Gulf by tonight.
Beryl is forecast to restrengthen into a high-end tropical storm or low-end Category 1 hurricane before coming ashore yet again either in northeast Mexico or far southern Texas by Monday.
Beryl will NOT affect us at all in Southwest Florida.
