Thousands of people gathered at the Paradise Coast Sports Complex in Collier County on Saturday to celebrate Independence in style. The complex hosted its free "Drones in Paradise" event. Instead of the typical fireworks people are used to seeing, hundreds of drones lit up the sky to create amazing shapes and images.
This is the first time an event like this has been celebrated in Collier County, and the eco-friendly celebration was just as fun and magical to watch as fireworks. While the drone show was the main event, people also had the opportunity to experience other events, such as laser tag, live music, food trucks and more.
"Just pride, really such an exciting event. We get to write a script here using this wonderful facility and I had chills watching that show, it was everything I thought it was going to be and more," said Adrian Moses, the general manager for Paradise Coast Sports Complex.
The event lasted five hours and organizers say this wouldn't be possible without the help from the county.
"We hope everyone had a good time. We will take the feedback, but ultimately we will review our performances, similar to come back even stronger with more cool events every year," Moses said.
