A local soccer club is mourning the loss of its goalkeeper, who was tragically killed in a swimming accident off the coast of Sanibel's Blind Pass.
The victim was identified as Isaac Breese.
On Tuesday, July 2, three teenagers were swimming in the water at Blind Pass and were swept away by the outgoing tide. Two of those teens, a boy and a girl, were rescued but Breese was not found.
On Thursday, July 4, the Sanibel Police Department said the Sanibel Police Marine Patrol Unit recovered Breese's remains.
Breese is from Cape Coral and played soccer for North Fort Myers High School and Florida West FC.

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that Florida West FC announces the tragic passing of Isaac Breese. Isaac was not only an exceptional player but also a cherished teammate and a remarkable individual who has left an indelible mark on our club and everyone who had the privilege of knowing, coaching and playing with him.
Isaac joined Florida West FC in 2020 and quickly became an integral part of our club. His dedication, skill, and passion for the game were evident in every training and match he played. Over the course of his career with Florida West FC, Isaac achieved numerous accolades and milestones, becoming an accomplished player and was set to graduate in 2025. He was a Nominee for 2024 ECNL Player of the Year as well as GK for his 2007 Florida ODP team. His contributions on the field were nothing short of extraordinary, earning him the respect and admiration of his coaches and teammates.
Beyond his impressive athletic achievements, Isaac was a beloved teammate whose spirit and camaraderie fostered a sense of unity and purpose within our team. His leadership, both on and off the field, was instrumental in guiding his teams to success and inspiring younger players to strive for excellence. Isaac's presence was a source of strength and encouragement, and his loss is felt deeply by all of us. His legacy extends far beyond his athletic prowess, reflecting the character and integrity that defined him as a person.
Our thoughts are with Isaac's family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. We will honor his memory by continuing to uphold the values he exemplified and by striving for the excellence that he so passionately pursued.
