A man who was indicted for first-degree murder in the shooting that left a Royal Jacks Arcade security guard dead during a robbery in North Fort Myers pleaded not guilty on Monday.
Courtney Parchman, 31, was also indicted on charges of robbery and tampering with evidence, the State Attorney's Office announced during a press conference in June.
According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, on June 1 at around 4:41 a.m., deputies responded to the Royal Jacks Arcade on Pondella Road. A security guard was reportedly shot and later died from his injuries at Gulf Coast Medical Center.
Parchman was arrested on June 5 during a search warrant at home on Riverfield Road in Cape Coral.
Parchman appeared in court on Monday where his lawyer entered a not-guilty plea on his behalf.
His next appearance in court is scheduled for August 27 at 9 a.m.
