A Lehigh Acres man has been convicted for flashing a gun in a crowded parking lot of a bar in Clewiston.
The incident happened in June 2021, when Javier Villarreal got into arguments with customers at the bar before security escorted him out.
According to the State Attorney's Office, Villarreal continued arguing with a group of people in the parking lot.
He reportedly got into his pickup truck, rolled down the window and waved a handgun as he drove off.
However, Villarreal pulled back up when Clewiston police arrived, and people yelled that he was the suspect.
Police then approached the vehicle and asked Villarreal to step out. According to the report, a revolver was seen near his leg, and he was taken to Hendry County Jail.
The State Attorney's Office said Villarreal was convicted of possession of a firearm, ammunition or concealed weapon by a convicted felon.
His sentencing is scheduled for Tuesday, July 30. Since the jury found Villarreal had "actual possession" of the gun, it's an enhancement to the charge, and he could face additional penalties at sentencing.
