McGregor Boulevard, between Llewellyn Drive and Larchmont Avenue near the Edison and Ford Winter Estates, is shutting down for the next 10-12 weeks.
Crews are working on repairing the road, beginning on Monday.
It will be similar to the brick paving in downtown Fort Myers.
City Council members say this will help slow down traffic and provide better safety and security for tourists and visitors.
"The plan is to redo the whole road, which means digging out the pipes and putting new ones in Century Link has to be involved. FPL may be involved, so we’re going to have to look at what their safety precautions are," Fort Myers City Council member Liston Bochette said. "Right now, we’re going to try and have at least some moderate passage, but it’s best to avoid this area for the next 12 weeks."
Construction is happening Mondays through Fridays between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Sidewalks won't be affected during construction, but if you are in the area, be sure to use caution and watch out for construction crews.
