Florida Gulf Coast University has appointed Josh Molino as the new head coach of the men's tennis program.
Molino, who brings extensive experience and a successful coaching background, recently served as the assistant men's tennis coach at the University of Tulsa.
"Coach Molino has a proven track record as a coach and brings a wealth of experience to our men's program," said Colin Hargis, FGCU director of intercollegiate athletics. "His energy and style will be a great fit for the culture of FGCU Athletics."
Molino's tenure at Tulsa was marked by notable achievements, including leading the team to the 2024 UTR Sports NIT Championship. He also produced two first-team All-AAC selections and mentored an NCAA singles qualifier in Pierce Rollins. Before Tulsa, Molino was the head coach at Kansas Wesleyan University, where he earned multiple awards, such as the 2022 Wilson ITA NAIA Central Region Men's Coach of the Year.
"First off, I want to thank President Aysegul Timur, Athletic Director Colin Hargis, and Deputy AD Graham Diemer for the opportunity to lead the men's tennis program here at FGCU," Molino said. "I'm extremely honored and excited to be part of such a prestigious university that excels in both academics and athletics. Our men will be models in the community of Southwest Florida, in the classroom at FGCU, and on the court representing the Atlantic Sun Conference. Wings Up!"
Vince Westbrook, Tulsa’s Associate AD and Director of Tennis, praised Molino's contributions. "We are incredibly proud of him and deeply grateful for his contributions to the Tulsa tennis program. What Josh has accomplished in one year is incredible," Westbrook said.
Molino graduated from the University of Central Florida with a bachelor's degree in sport and fitness. His leadership extends beyond the court, having served on several national and regional tennis committees.
Molino's appointment is expected to bring new energy and success to FGCU's men's tennis program.
