Three teenagers are being accused of breaking into a home and lighting off fireworks inside.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jose Delgado, Deandre Richardson, and Marius Applins for breaking into a house on Roosevelt Avenue in Lehigh Acres on Wednesday afternoon. The three teens are 14, 15, and 16 years old.
Deputies said the suspects threw a rock at the bathroom window to break the glass, then climbed on a chair to reach the window and shimmied inside.
Jens Haselhuhn is a property manager for J’s Florida Services LLC Dba JFS.
He watches the house while the homeowner is out of the country.
Haselhuhn said, "It was kind of personal because I treat the homes like my own homes."
Haselhuhn said the house had been broken into at least three times. After the second time, he decided to put a hidden camera inside the house, which caught the suspects in the act.
Haselhuhn said the teens turned the house into a hangout spot. There were snacks, drink, and a tee shirt inside the house.
Burn marks from fireworks were left on the floor and a couch pillow.
Haselhuhn called the Lee County Sheriff's Office, and deputies arrested the teens after they tried to flee on foot.
"I'm very relieved that this thing is over, and I'm very, very appreciative of the sheriff's office. When you call them, and you say you have an issue, they're right there," Haselhuhn said.
