A child was taken to the hospital after a kitchen fire started in an apartment located along Capulet Lane just off Michigan Avenue.
According to the Fort Myers Fire Department, fire crews saw smoke showing around 2:09 p.m. Shortly after, a kitchen fire was reported.
The fire was extinguished shortly after but smoke filled the apartment.
According to FMFD, the Red Cross was called for a woman and two children. Fire officials said one child was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
