A Naples man received two life sentences in connection to the murder of a 58-year-old woman.
The victim's body was found in August 2020 in the parking lot of the Home Depot on Airport-Pulling Road.
According to the State Attorney's Office, witnesses said Kenneth Rejenda Tannassee approached the woman while she was in her car.
He reportedly paced back and forth, saying, "Give it to me!" The woman responded, "I have nothing to give you," before Tannassee stabbed her twice in the neck and left the scene.
Court documents said surveillance video showed him walking to the parking lot before the murder and walking away right after the crime. Officials said he was seen walking to a business across the street, and a witness reportedly said Tannassee confessed to the murder.
Collier County deputies quickly identified and located Tannassee, 33, not far from the crime scene.
According to the State Attorney's Office, he had the victim's blood on his hands, leg, arm and the clothes he was wearing.
Tannassee was taken into custody and put in the Naples Jail. Officials said while he was incarcerated there, he called one witness and threatened by revealing knowledge of their home address.
In February, he was convicted of second-degree murder and witness tampering, according to the Collier County Sheriff's Office .
Tannassee was sentenced to life in prison as a prison release re-offender for second-degree murder. He was also given a concurrent life sentence for tampering with a witness.
