A North Port man has been sentenced to 35 years in prison after being found guilty of drug trafficking as a repeat offender.
Clayton Waidelich, 27, was found guilty and sentenced to 35 years in prison, followed by 10 years of probation.
In January 2021, the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office was performing surveillance and saw multiple cars pull into a driveway at Waidelich's home in Port Charlotte.
Deputies say they saw drug deals between Waidelich and those in the cars. According to reports, Waidelich used a drone of his own to scan the area for potential law enforcement.
Traffic stops were reportedly conducted on the cars involved in the transactions, and various drugs were found during each stop. The people in the cars were arrested.
A search warrant was reportedly conducted on Waidelich's home, where deputies say they found trafficking amounts of fentanyl and amphetamine, as well as other drugs and paraphernalia.
Deputies say they found over 28 grams of fentanyl and over 200 grams of amphetamine.
Waidelich also received five years in prison for possession of cannabis over 20 grams.
