A teen accused of shooting and killing another teen at the DeSoto County Fair is set to face a judge and jury in court next week.
Ryan Watson Jr., 16, has a case management hearing on Monday at 1:30 p.m.
Watson was charged with the shooting of 17-year-old Daniel Rodriguez-Lopez at the DeSoto County Fair in February 2023.
According to the affidavit, witnesses stated prior to the shooting they saw a fight break out with several teenage males "jumping" Daniel.
Initial descriptions involved males wearing masks and jackets. Black ski masks are on the evidence list.
A video was reportedly being circulated on social media where detectives say they could see Watson lose one of his shoes during the fight. The shoe was later recovered.
Daniel's mom said he had been having issues with several people, including Watson, due to them fighting a few months before.
Witnesses say they saw Daniel and Watson arguing before the shooting.
A phone that was recovered for evidence has a video where several people were flashing guns.
One witness said they saw the shooting and were able to pick Watson out of a lineup as the gunman.
Another video that was obtained showed Watson in possession of a black semi-automatic handgun and saying, "Before you start talking [expletive], this is my [expletive], [expletive] you talking about. Don't ever come to me with that [expletive]."
Multiple witnesses were able to identify Watson out of a lineup, according to reports.
