Used by Japanese fishermen to “record their catches,” Gyotaku (gee-oh-tak-oo) is a traditional form of printing (fish) dating back to the mid- 1800’s.
It has now become an art form of its own for printing other things in nature as well.
From gyo (meaning fish) and taku (meaning stone impression), Amy-san and Christian-san share this beautiful art of nature with us this morning which is created by pressing rice paper, wood pulp paper, fabric, or other suitable surfaces onto a fish, sea creature, plant, or other natural object covered in ink.
