A man and woman were arrested after officers made a traffic stop and learned they had warrants for their arrest and had drugs and paraphernalia in Cape Coral.
On Saturday around 3:15 p.m. officers pulled over a motorcycle on Del Prado Boulevard South.
Officers said David Gill, 33, was driving a red motorcycle exiting a parking lot with a passenger turning right onto the northbound lanes of Del Prado Blvd S and traveling across all traffic lanes.
When the officers explained the reason for the stop and asked for a license and registration, Gill reportedly said he had just purchased the motorcycle three hours ago, so he did not have registration.
When officers asked Gill for his name and date of birth, he reportedly gave a false name and birthday.
Officers learned his actual name and date of birth and discovered he had a suspended Mississippi license, no motorcycle endorsement and three warrants out of Lee County.
The passenger, Jamie Rutland, 46, reportedly had six warrants out of Lee County.
Both Gill and Rutland were arrested and searched.
Officers say they found a clear pipe that tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine, two clear bags of meth and a pill bottle prescribed to another person containing Xanax.
Gill was charged with:
- One count of false name to law enforcement
- One count of failure to register a motor vehicle
- One count of operating a motorcycle without and endorsement
- One count of driving with a suspended license
- One count of possession of methamphetamine
- One count of possession of paraphernalia
- One count of failure to appear
- One count in violation of an out-of-county warrant
- One count in violation of an out-of-state fugitive warrant
Rutland was charged with:
- Six counts of failure to appear
- One count of possession of methamphetamine
- One count of possession of Xanax
Gill and Rutland were taken to the Lee County Jail.
