Neighbors along Kentwood Avenue in Gateway said a bear has been coming out of the woods and right up to their driveways.
“I just saw this big black shadow. And then I sat up, and I could not believe it was a bear right there in front of me just a few feet away,” said Glenn Fry, who caught the bear on camera.
The bear has made quite a name for itself around the Gateway neighborhood. After multiple sightings around the neighborhood and community pool, people have started calling this bear "Benny."
While Benny might seem friendly, neighbors are still cautious.
“I mean, we see eagles and beautiful birds all the time, but to see a bear of that size is a little frightening. And where's mom? I don't want to find mom at 10:30 at night when we go for our walk,” said neighbor Lisa Dasilva.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said if you see a bear, give it space and don’t feed it.
