Lee County detectives are searching for a man accused of blocking a driver and stealing a truck on Monday night.
Around 10:30 p.m., deputies responded to the intersection of Mellow Drive and Slater Road in North Fort Myers for reports of a carjacking.
Upon arrival, the victim told deputies he was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on Mellow Dr when a vehicle flicked its headlights and suddenly changed lanes, blocking his path.
The suspect was reportedly driving an old white suburban.
The victim continued to tell deputies that the male got out of the passenger side of the car, approached his window and told him in Spanish to "get out of the vehicle, the good or the bad way," while holding his hand in his pocket to appear as if he had a gun.
The victim and his son got out of the car and ran into a ditch for protection.
According to reports, the suspect entered the truck and drove westbound on Mellow Drive, and the white suburban made a U-turn to head westbound.
The victim then called a family member before calling deputies.
Reports say the suspect was described as a white male, approximately 5 feet, 9 inches tall, wearing a black short-sleeved hoodie and a black mask.
The estimated value of the victim's vehicle is $7,500, and the cellphone left inside is approximately $100.
Detectives were notified and took over the investigation.
