An East Naples man was sentenced to life in prison for the brutal murder of his girlfriend in 2018. Santiago Burbano, 26, reportedly stabbed the woman more than 80 times with a knife at his apartment.
According to court documents, on September 13, 2018, Burbano attacked his girlfriend with a knife when she visited him at his apartment. He killed her in his bedroom and then texted a couple of acquaintances about the murder. He left the bedroom and told his mother about the killing, she called 911.
Burbano opted to make an open plea to the court. He was sentenced for second-degree murder.
