Multiple people were injured after a Florida Highway Patrol pursuit led to a crash at the intersection of Pondella Road and Hibiscus Drive.
According to FHP, troopers attempted to stop someone for reckless driving on State Road 78 (Pine Island Road) and Judd Creek Boulevard.
Troopers reportedly lost visual contact with the Ford vehicle as it went through a Walmart parking lot.
Reports say the Ford left the parking lot and traveled south on Hibiscus Drive, where the driver ran a stop sign and collided with a Kia.
The crash happened around 5 p.m. Tuesday and NBC2 crews saw debris scattered across the road.
The driver of the Ford was taken to Gulf Coast Hospital with serious injuries. FHP said the passenger in the Ford and the driver of the Kia were taken to Cape Coral Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Several agencies, including the Florida Highway Patrol, Cape Coral Police Department and Lee County Sheriff's Office, responded to the scene.
FHP said this case remains under investigation and charges are pending.
