The NBC 2 Storm Team has issued a Severe Weather First Alert for the potential for strong storms during the late afternoon and evening commute.
The main threats will be heavy rain, frequent lightning and gusty winds. For coastal areas that received 1-3' of rain on Monday, minor flooding will be possible through Tuesday evening.

Similar to Monday, today won't be a complete washout but a few strong storms will be possible. Isolated showers will become more widespread into the evening.
Have a way to receive weather alerts and be on the lookout for ponding on the roads. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time if you have to be out on the roads tonight.
After sunset, storms will wind down but rain will linger near the coast. All of southwest Florida will dry out overnight as lows dip into the mid 70s. As drier air works in tomorrow, we'll see fewer storms in the forecast. Showers will develop initially close to the coast by around noon.
Into the late afternoon and evening, scattered showers with a few storms will impact coastal communities but the overall coverage will be much lower. Highs will still bounce back to the mid 90s with lows in the upper 70s.
For the rest of the work week and into the weekend, an east wind will dominate the forecast which will favor coastal afternoon storms. Ahead of the daily storms, highs will be running close to seasonal in the low 90s. Keep the extra water and the umbrella handy as you'll have a good chance of getting caught up in a downpour several days this week if you live closer to the Gulf.
