The Sanibel-Captiva Foundation announced that Least Terns are nesting on the causeway.
Last week, the SCCF said they provided the Florida Department of Traffic with "birdhouses" to protect the Least Terns that are nesting.
The birdhouses will help protect them from predators and thunderstorms.
Crews have reportedly relocated the work activities to not disturb them.
