A person was detained after reportedly fleeing from deputies during a theft investigation in Lehigh Acres Wednesday morning.
According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the Walmart on Lee Boulevard.
Deputies say Carlos Alberto Rodriguez, 30, is accused of stealing a U-Haul on Monday, July 22.
The vehicle was reported as missing to the Fort Myers Police Department on Wednesday.
The U-Haul was found at a McDonald's on Tamiami Trail. Deputies say they got out and tried to talk to the diver, but he sped off.
Aviation units followed the U-Haul, and Rodriguez stopped at the Walmart before running inside the store. The sheriff's office said he ditched something before going out the back door and into the woods.
LCSO says Rodriguez went back inside the store and found his bag he ditched with key fobs that appeared to be from rental lots.
