Cape Coral police are investigating a death at a gas station along Del Prado Boulevard South Saturday night.
A couple, Corie Whaley and Bailey Calloway, said they tried saving the man's life.
They said they were exiting the BP gas station in Cape Coral when they saw a man lying half on the ground and half on the floor.
Whaley said the man seemed like he was in pretty good health and was around the age of 30. She said although nervous at first, she and her boyfriend, Bailey, stepped in to help.
She said they told the store clerk about the man, and they seemed to already know. Shen said she then called the cops and ambulance, who told her to do CPR.
Although she hadn't done CPR in a year, she said she still tried to save the man's life. Luckily, a Cape Coral traffic volunteer pulled into the gas station and knew how to do chest compressions, so he took over.
"The ambulance was super responsive and was there within seconds and took over," Whaley said.
Calloway said by the time first responders stepped in to help, the man was completely unresponsive.
Cape Coral police are investigating how the man died.
