Growing up in Southwest Florida, Brooke Sweat was always extremely talented at indoor volleyball. She won back-to-back state championships at Canterbury before going on to play for Florida Gulf Coast University's inaugural indoor team. However, it was on the beach where Sweat made her career.
After playing in the nest, the Fort Myers native turned pro. She put together a decadelong career, playing all over the world before numerous injuries and surgeries finally sidelined her. All of her hard work culminated in 2016 when Sweat represented the United States at the Rio Olympics.
Sweat sat down for an exclusive interview with NBC2's Jaron May to discuss her time playing in Southwest Florida, what it was like to be an Olympian, and her thoughts on the 2024 Paris Olympics.
