A trial date has been set for Christopher Davis, the boyfriend of missing Barry Schmalbach, who appeared in arraignment court on Monday.
Schmalbach was last seen with his boyfriend, Davis, on July 19, 2023, at the Cruisers bar in Cape Coral. Davis was arrested on an unrelated out-of-state warrant nearly a month later.
Davis faces charges of one count of second-degree murder, one count of tampering with evidence, and nine counts of fraudulent use of personal identification of a deceased individual.
Davis pleaded not guilty to the charges and was appointed a public defender.

According to documents, Davis's trial date is scheduled for September 24 at 9 a.m. Davis is scheduled to appear in court next on August 29 at 1:30 p.m. for case management.
