Get ready to raise awareness of mental health. July is National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month.
Mental illness can affect people of all races and ethnicities.
Dr. Sarah Romero, a clinical psychologist with Lee Health, joined ABC7 to show how people can better take care of their minds.
You can use moments of silence, which is a technique that prioritizes silence as a moment for self-reflection to foster self-awareness. Hectic schedules can decrease the amount of space people have to self-reflect, but taking a moment of silence can can help people more accurately. Also, it's important to understand that people's mindsets do not just happen. They need intentional action. This could be reading a book or listening to a podcast, among other strategies that support a change in perspective.
