The Lee County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a burglar entered a house while a homeowner was home.
Deputies said they had a suspect detained.
The burglary happened in broad daylight Wednesday, on Gilbert Avenue in Lehigh Acres.
Indira Sovalvarro said she was home alone, eating breakfast inside her bedroom. She heard loud knocks on her front door and didn't answer. She said the burglar thought no one was home and entered her house.
"I heard the refrigerator rumbling, things start getting thrown on the floor," said Sovalvarro.
Sovalvarro said she locked her bedroom door and peeked underneath the crack and saw feet that she didn't recognize.
"I saw liquid running almost near his feet. I thought it was blood at one point, but it was red soda," said Sovalvarro.
Sovalvarro said about five minutes later she heard glass shatter and decided to escape through her bedroom window. She said she ended up coming face-to-face with the burglar. Sovalvarro said she ran as fast as she could back inside her house into the bathroom to hide, and the burglar fled.
"I was honestly afraid to call the police and I didn't know what to do," said Solvalvarro. "At that moment I didn't know what to do. I call my mom then she tells me she's calling the police."
