A North Fort Myers man has been found guilty of aggravated battery after a Lee County jury turned in their decision on Thursday.
According to documents, Glenn Banner, 60, has been convicted of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon on a person 65 years of age or older.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office says on August 12, 2023, deputies responded to a disturbance call at a North Fort Myers home.
Deputies say they found Banner standing in the street with minor cuts to his face. Banner told deputies he got in a fight.
Deputies interviewed the victim, who had a cut on his head and numerous cuts to his face.
The victim told deputies he had been in a bedroom when he heard the generator turn off outside. The generator was used for another resident's oxygen machine as the electricity was out.
The victim went outside to ask Banner to turn it back on and a fight reportedly started.
Banner refused to turn it back on and deputies say he punched the victim, then grabbed a small wood bat and hit him with it.
The victim was able to get away and get back inside the house to call for help.
The trial was two days. Banner's sentencing is scheduled for September 10th.
