The Collier County Sheriff's Office has arrested a 12th person in connection to a suspected illegal massage business.
Deputies say Xu Huiping, 55, was arrested on Thursday after detectives saw her hurrying out of the back door of Asian Angels Spa on Pine Ridge Road in Naples.
Detectives arrived at the spa around 1 p.m. on Thursday.
Deputies say it was business as usual. Two male customers reportedly showed up while detectives were conducting the inspection and the massage therapist on duty told detectives she had just started working there after flying in from California a day before.
Huiping, the designated establishment operator, was reportedly arrested after she was unable to provide documents required by state law.
Huiping reportedly was also unable to provide her ID or a copy of the new therapist's ID as required under new state law.
Reports say she wasn't present on Tuesday when Asian Angels failed an inspection leading to multiple arrests.
On Tuesday, the assistant operator was arrested during a multi-agency operation that focused on identifying illicit conduct at area massage businesses and the people who operate these criminal businesses.
Eleven people were arrested and 10 failed inspections.
House Bill 197, which took effect July 1, has sparked a crackdown on illegal business operations.
"The operation represents the beginning of enforcement of a new Florida law which aims to crack down on illicit massage businesses, hold them accountable for their criminal activities, and combat human trafficking. The Collier County Sheriff’s Office led by Sheriff Kevin Rambosk was instrumental in writing the law and getting it passed," CCSO said via social media.
