Hendry County officials announced a local state of emergency has been issued. The notice went into effect at 5 p.m. Friday.
Officials said the state of emergency helps the county prepare for and respond to situations including tropical storms.
Residents were advised to prepare for possible tropical storm conditions beginning Saturday afternoon and throughout the day on Sunday.
According to the news release, preparations should make sure yard debris is cleared and loose items are secured.
Hendry County residents can sign up for Hendry County emergency alerts by texting "HENDRYFLA" to 888777, officials said.
