A woman was arrested after allegedly breaking into and damaging a home in Lehigh Acres on Wednesday.
Samantha Hanmore, 29, is accused of breaking into a home and causing damage before attempting to run away from the homeowner.
The victim told Lee County deputies that he was last at his new home on Monday preparing to move in. When the victim left his house, he turned off the breakers in the residence to stop all power.
The victim said he went back to the home on Wednesday around 6:50 p.m. and walked to the rear of the residence to enter through the side garage door when he noticed the air conditioning was on.
Reports say the victim became suspicious that someone was inside the house so he went to the backyard to enter through the back sliding doors.
When he got to the back door, he saw a male and Hanmore in the house trying to exit. The male reportedly pulled out a knife and told the victim to "back up."
Hanmore and the male ran away and the victim followed them while contacting deputies. He followed the two until they reached Owens Avenue South and 26th Street Southwest, where deputies arrived.
Hanmore was reportedly arrested. Deputies have not shared information about the male.
The victim pointed out damage all around the home to deputies which he said wasn't there before he was last at the residence.
Deputies say they found a yellow prybar and a black flat-head screwdriver on the kitchen counter.
Hanmore was reportedly taken to the Lee County Jail and was charged with burglary and criminal mischief over $200, under $1,000.
