One Lake County deputy is dead, and two other deputies were injured after a shooting at an Eustis home on Friday, according to the Lake County sheriff.
The Lake County Lt. John Harrell held a news conference early Saturday where he said deputies responded to a home on Brookside Drive regarding a disturbance.
Upon arriving, they heard a disturbance inside the home and decided to enter the house and were met with a lot of gunfire.
The first deputy who entered the home was shot and has died from the injuries, according to the sheriff.
In a social media post , the Lake County Sheriff’s Office identified him as 28-year-old Master Deputy Sheriff Bradley Michael Link.
A second deputy was shot in the armpit and stomach and is in critical condition, according to the sheriff. He was identified as Deputy First Class Stefano Gargano and underwent surgeries Friday night.
Per deputies, Gargano was part of the officer-rescue unit that formed to go into the home to save Link. As they entered the home, LCSO said Gargano and the unit immediately encountered gunfire, and Gargano was struck numerous times.
The third deputy, who was also shot and injured, was identified as Master Deputy Harold Howell.
Howell, who was hired in 2005 and has served as a K-9 deputy since 2011, was shot in the arm as he entered the home with Link. Howell remains in stable condition and is currently awaiting surgery.
The sheriff said three of the suspects inside the home have died.
Chopper 2 flew over the scene of the incident on Friday night, where multiple law enforcement vehicles were seen surrounding the Orlando Hills subdivision where the shooting happened. The area was blocked off.
Deputies said no suspect has been arrested at this point.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the incident.
