Two flash flood warnings are active in Collier County on Sunday evening as rainbands from Tropical Storm Debby impact our community.
The first flash flood warning is active for all of western Collier County until 6 p.m. It includes U.S. 41 and Interstate 75 from the Lee-Collier county line southward to Marco Island.
Other communities in the warning include Naples, North Naples, Naples Park and Golden Gate.
The second flash flood warning is for Alligator Alley from the Collier County toll booth eastward to Highway 29, east of the Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge.
Travel in these areas may be extremely dangerous as flash flooding often catches drivers by surprise.
Over the course of the last two days, 3 to 9 inches of rain have fallen in the warned area, and more heavy rain is possible overnight Sunday and into Monday.
If you encounter a flooded road, turn around. When roads flood, especially during instances of flash flooding, it is nearly impossible to judge the depth of the water or what the condition of the road is underneath.
