Principal Dr. Mia German had tears in her eyes while she celebrated the new Franklin Park Elementary School.
"The process of working in portables and moving back here has been overwhelming, but we can't wait to welcome the students next week to this new school," German said.

She's excited about the new school she plans to send her kids to one day
"To see this new school, it's just too much excitement," Buford said.
Nearly two years of construction on the completely new building is finally ready for students-
The school is filled with brand new classrooms and there is a lot of fun outside too with new basketball courts and play grounds.
"I know kids who are going here, and my son, who is 9 months old, will go here one year," Buford said.
The new school will have 579 students from kindergarten to fifth grade and will also become the district’s first true community school. This fall, the United Way, Lee Health, FGCU, and other partners will be incorporated into the campus to provide community wrap-around services on-site. The total project cost is $83.5 million.
