Cape Coral’s Sun Splash Family Waterpark released a statement Thursday on the death of a 15-year-old employee who was killed while riding her bicycle.
Kendra Ahrens, 15, was riding her bike along Santa Barbara Boulevard on July 31 when a truck crashed into her. Kendra would have been a junior at Mariner High School.
Sun Splash says Kendra was full of life and joy and she was known among colleagues for her smile and positivity.
"Kendra could brighten a difficult day and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She was a natural unifier and never met a stranger," the statement reads.
As the community grieves, Sun Splash is remembering the light Kendra brought to so many residents.
"Our waterpark family is devastated at the tragic loss of Kendra’s life. We are humbled to have been a small part of her journey and are thankful for the lasting impact she has made on our team and guests. As our community grieves, we cling to the life of joy and kindness she lived intentionally as an example to us all," the statement says.
A celebration of life has been scheduled for Kendra which is set for Friday at 2 p.m. at the Crosspoint Christian Church in Cape Coral.
Sun Splash says a GoFundMe has been set up by a family friend. It is labeled as, "Support Kendra Rose Ahrens' Memorial Fund.
