The Incident Command System is currently staged at Newton Beach Park for a two-week debris clean-up project.
This project will focus on algal accumulation along the shoreline, between 3000 Estero Boulevard and 5500 Estero Blvd.
The Town of Fort Myers Beach asks that you use caution in this area as heavy machinery will be used to complete the clean-up.
The algal accumulation does come with a smell, the city says this is temporary and it will be gone once it's hauled off the beach.
