A Gateway High School student was arrested after allegedly posting an Instagram story, threatening to kill a local teacher.
The message read, "Mrs. Gantwarg will be getting shot on the first day, and none of you will snitch, or the whole school goes down with me."
In the background of the message were reportedly the words, "KILL ME NOW" seven times.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office says the 15-year-old student who sent the message attends Gateway High School.
Reports say another student saw the story and sent it in an Instagram direct message to a group chat asking if anyone else had seen the threat.
The student said she did not know the identity of the poster.
After seeing the message, reports say she notified her mother who told her to reach out to the former assistant principal, Kari Hardman.
Hardman reportedly forwarded the email to the Lee County Sheriff's Office's school resource officer.
Detectives responded to Gateway High School on Monday where they met with Mrs. Gantwarg.
Mrs. Gantwarg told deputies she teaches 9th, 10th and 11th grade and could not think of any student who would want to harm her.
Detectives issued a request with Meta Platforms Inc., to link a phone provider to the person who posted the threat.
The request revealed it was a Verizon Wireless phone, so detectives were able to track down the phone number through an additional request.
After investigations, detectives were able to find the address of the suspected poster. Detectives responded to the home and made contact with the poster.
The student was reportedly arrested and charged with written threat of violence; to wit, after transmitting a message threatening to kill or do bodily harm to a teacher.
The student was transported to a Lee County substation.
According to the report, deputies say a safety plan will be in order once the student returns to school.
