A south Fort Myers man was arrested after reportedly reaching speeds of 130 mph during a chase from Florida Highway Patrol troopers Saturday morning.
According to FHP, troopers tried to stop a vehicle for modified exhaust near the intersection of Colonial Boulevard and Metro Parkway. The driver, later identified as Davin Cropper, 20, fled from the traffic stop, reaching speeds of 130 mph on US-41.
Troopers stopped the pursuit after the vehicle “blacked out” their lights and traveled through major intersections at more than 100 mph.
The vehicle was later spotted by troopers as it approached Cropper's home off Garland Street, FHP said.
Cropper faces charges of fleeing and eluding and reckless driving. He was also cited for the modified exhaust on his vehicle.
