Four students from Immokalee are answering the call to address a critical shortage of 911 dispatchers.
The Immokalee Foundation says four of its students just completed their public safety career academy. The program is a partnership with the Collier County Sheriff's Office.
It gets students equipped with the skills and knowledge required to take the state exam to become a public safety telecommunication.
The students are now embarking on the application and hiring process at CCSO, with the goal of starting on-the-job training as full-time dispatchers and working right here in our community.
It's one example of how the Immokalee Foundation creates unique career pathways through the power of education.
