A challenge on Challenger Boulevard continues, and this time, it will look worse before it gets better.
If you usually drive on Challenger Boulevard and Winkler Avenue, it's going to get a little busier, especially around rush hour.
They have finished the west part of the roundabout, and they are now going to be working on the east part, which means you will no longer be able to access Winkler Avenue driving down Challenger Boulevard starting Aug. 19.
Kris Cella is the spokesperson for the project. She says the safest option for this intersection is a roundabout.
"I guess we have to wait and see what it comes out to be, but otherwise, it is a headache," said Ervin.
This popular shortcut to Colonial will be cut off for a few months, and people like former Ray V. Pottorf Elementary School teacher Soaring Vail are happy they can avoid it.
"That is going to impact parent pickup. Sometimes they are waiting for an hour, and it's going to impact that pickup," said Vail.
Ervin says it's one reason he doesn't drive his grandson to school anymore.
"That was before the construction; now, after, I tell him he has to take the bus," said Ervin.
The work began in May, and they hope it will be completed by the end of the year.
