Convicted Cape Coral double-murderer Wade Wilson was denied a new trial on Thursday.
According to court documents, Wilson was found guilty on all counts and requested a new trial or acquittal.
Kristine Melton, 35, and Diane Ruiz, 43, were strangled as part of a cross-county crime spree. In addition to the two first-degree murder charges, Wilson was convicted of grand theft, battery, burglary and petit theft.
The Honorable Judge Nicholas R. Thompson denied the motion.
Wilson's sentencing is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 27.
Thompson will decide if he will move forward with the jury's recommendation for the death penalty or sentence Wilson to life in prison.
Numerous letters have been sent to Thompson from family members, friends and the public, asking him to choose life for the convicted killer.
The letters all share the idea that Wilson should be given a chance at rehabilitation.
