Detectives arrested a man and a woman after a search warrant where they say they found enough fentanyl to kill nearly 200,000 people.
The Collier County Sheriff's Office said they executed a search warrant on a suspected drug house located on 44th Terrace SW, which is across the street from a neighborhood park.
“Our message is clear,” Sheriff Kevin Rambosk said. “If you’re going to peddle poison in this community and threaten the safety of children, our detectives are coming to get you and you will be held accountable.”
Maikel Bernal, 42, and Yusbelkin Clemente-Vega, 39, are in the Collier County Jail facing charges of trafficking fentanyl over 28 grams.
Bernal is also facing charges of possession of methamphetamine.
During the search, CCSO says they found a total of 318 fentanyl pills inside the home.
The small blue pills were marked "M 30" to resemble legitimate prescription oxycodone hydrochloride 30 mg pills.
The fentanyl weighed a total of 34.1 grams.
Detectives say they also found methamphetamine and $13,380 cash from inside the residence.
Detectives also seized $6,000 cash that Bernal had on him at the time of his arrest.
According to reports, the denominations of the money were indicative of narcotics sales.
