A former air conditioning repairman is facing a charge of violating probation following his arrest for fraud and providing false information to a pawnbroker.
David Wise, 39, is accused of stealing jewelry from a customer's home during a service call.
The victim reported that after Wise's visit to repair their air conditioning, his wife’s wedding ring and another diamond ring went missing.
A few days later, the stolen rings were discovered at a local pawn shop, where Wise had sold them for $300.
Detectives say Wise claimed he found the rings in the grass during a smoke break at the victim's home.
He asserted that he was unaware the rings belonged to the victim and thus decided to pawn them for cash.
Wise has a history of criminal activity in Lee and Collier counties, with prior arrests for drugs, fraud, theft, and dealing in stolen property.
The 39-year-old is 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighs 170 pounds, and is known to move between Lehigh, LaBelle, and Immokalee.
He has several tattoos, including a rebel flag on his left arm, a pitbull on his right arm, and the phrase "Family over everything" on his chest.
