If you drive through the middle of Cape Coral you’ll see a fallen commercial plaza sign on 900 SW Pine Island Road. It’s hard to miss.
NBC2 asked nearby businesses what happened. They said the sign fell almost two years ago during Hurricane Ian.
The sign isn't just an eyesore, it's hurting small businesses.
“It’s annoying because a lot of people call, they can't find a place because that is the only sign out there with our name on it. It would help if it was put back up,” said Peter Egiziaco, a phone tech at Batteries + Bulbs.
Property records show the plaza is managed by Five Diamonds Management.
NBC2 gave them a call and they said they’d call us back with more information.
We also reached out to the city of Cape Coral to ask if anyone has requested a permit to replace the plaza sign, they said there are no records that show someone had.
