The NBC2 First Alert Hurricane Team is tracking Hurricane Ernesto as it nears the Canadian Maritimes today.
As of 11 a.m. Monday, the National Hurricane Center shows Ernesto with sustained winds of 90 mph and gusts up to 115 mph.
The forward speed of the storm is fast, last pegged at 28 mph toward the north-northeast.

Ernesto will be moving toward the northern Atlantic this week.
The rest of the tropical Atlantic is quiet for now, but it's important to stay updated as we head into the peak of the hurricane season.
