A bizarre find on the side of the road. Two jet skis were dumped in an empty lot at the corner of Daniel Avenue N and 22nd Street W in Lehigh Acres.
Residents noticed the abandoned watercraft over the weekend and were quick to share their shock on Facebook.
The worn-out jet skis were clearly left discarded. Trails were left behind where you could see where they were dragged into the grass at the intersection.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office checked it out and confirmed they hadn’t been stolen. Shortly after, Solid Waste removed them.
Longtime resident Stafford Dameron wasn’t surprised by the find. He says he's seen all sorts of stuff dumped in the area over the years. Neighbors who didn’t want to go on camera said they’d seen these same jet skis at a nearby home before and suspected they were abandoned as the people were moving out.
There was an eviction notice on the door of that property. Neighbors say they saw people moving out of the home a few days ago, but no one has been back since then.
The county is now looking into the case and fines may be coming for the jet ski owners. If you spot illegal dumping in your area, make sure to report it to the county so they can check it out and clean it up.
